TAKING DEPOSITS
Deposits, asked for without the awkward part.
You know a deposit protects your time, but asking for money, sending your payment details and checking who paid all land on you. ZMODE asks for the amount you set the moment a client picks a time, explains your deposit policy in your words and sends you a note once it's paid.

WHY IT HAPPENS
Why deposits get skipped
Owners rarely skip deposits because they think they're a bad idea. They skip them because every step of taking one happens by hand, in between clients, and each step has its own small friction.
01
The ask feels personal
Asking for money before you've done anything can feel like telling someone you don't trust them. So you let it slide for a regular, then for a friendly new client, and soon nobody pays one at all.
02
Sending details takes time
Typing out your payment details, explaining the amount and waiting for the transfer happens one chat at a time. When you're in the middle of a service, that message sits unsent until the evening, and the client has moved on.
03
Checking who paid is a chore
At night you scroll your payment app against your bookings, trying to match a first name to a transfer. When something doesn't match, you have to write a second message about money, which feels worse than the first.
HOW ZMODE FIXES IT
How ZMODE takes the deposit for you
You decide the amounts and the rules once. After that, every client hears the same thing, at the same moment, without you typing a word.
Asked for right after the time is picked
The second a client chooses a time, ZMODE sends a payment link for the deposit you set for that service, paid through Stripe into your account. The ask is part of booking, so it never sounds like a favor or a test of trust.
Your policy, in your words
Tell ZMODE once which services need a deposit, how much, and what happens if someone cancels late. It explains that rule to each client before they pay, so the wording is always clear and always the same.
Questions answered before they pay
When a client asks why there's a deposit, whether it comes off the total or what happens if they get sick, ZMODE answers on Instagram, WhatsApp or your website chat with your own answers, so you don't have to defend the policy yourself.
A note when the money lands
Each paid deposit reaches you as a short WhatsApp note with the name, the service and the time. Knowing who paid takes one glance at your phone instead of an evening with your payment history.
Available features depend on your setup, supported channels and location.
WHERE IT SHOWS UP
Where a deposit matters most
Any business that sets aside time for one person can use a deposit. These are the ones where asking for it by hand is hardest to keep up.
Hair and beauty salons
A balayage can fill most of an afternoon. A $50 deposit on long color visits, explained with the 48 hour move rule, keeps that block from turning into a gap.
See the pageSpas and wellness studios
Couples rooms and 90 minute sessions tie up a room and two therapists. A $40 deposit asked for in the same chat as the booking means you're not writing about money after a quiet treatment.
See the pageCleaning services
A first deep clean blocks a crew for a whole morning. A $50 deposit that comes off the $240 tells you the client is serious before anyone loads the van.
See the pageRestaurants and bakeries
A table for eight or a custom cake is a commitment you plan food and staff around. A deposit at booking turns a friendly yes into a reservation you can prep for.

A paid first session takes real preparation. A $50 deposit asked for when the prospect picks the hour keeps your calendar for people who mean to come.

QUESTIONS
Questions about taking deposits
Will asking for a deposit scare new clients away?
It's asked for in the same chat where they just picked a time, with the amount, what it comes off and your cancellation rule, so it reads as the normal way you book. People who weren't planning to come may decide not to pay, and an open slot is easier to fill than an empty one.
Can I take a deposit for some services and not others?
Yes. You tell ZMODE which services need one and how much each deposit is. A quick brow tint can book with no deposit while a full lash set asks for $30, for example.
Where does the money go?
Deposits are paid through Stripe into your own Stripe account. ZMODE asks for the payment and tells you when it's done; the money is yours.
How do I know who paid?
Every paid deposit arrives as a WhatsApp note with the client's name, the service and the time, and the booking shows on your calendar. You don't have to match transfers to names.
What should my deposit policy say?
Keep it short: the amount, that it comes off the total, how much notice a client needs to give to move it, and what happens with less notice. ZMODE repeats your wording to each client before they pay, so write it the way you'd say it out loud.
What if a client asks me to skip the deposit?
ZMODE explains your rule kindly and the same way every time. If you want a different rule for regulars, tell ZMODE as a lesson, and it follows that instead. Exceptions stay your decision.
Does ZMODE give the deposit back if someone cancels?
Your policy decides what happens with a deposit, and ZMODE explains that policy to the client. Any money you choose to return, you return yourself from your Stripe account.
